The Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra, Music Director Jaap van Zweden, our Board of Governors as well as the administration put the health and well-being of our audiences, players and staff at the forefront of our priorities. Like most cultural organisations, we have made major adjustments to our regular activities in order to accommodate these exceptional circumstances. 

We continue to liaise closely with our performance partners and venues to ensure appropriate arrangements for the remainder of our 2019/20 season. Please visit our website and Facebook page for relevant announcements.

Mr. Steven Ying


Steven Ying

Mr. Steven Ying is Managing Partner of High Impact Capital Advisors, a social impact firm established in 2010 in Hong Kong to help clients create substantial social impact alongside profits. In December 2015, High Impact Capital closed US $100 million debt financing transaction for China Foundation for Poverty Alleviation (CFPA) Microfinance Company, the largest microfinance company in China. Steven also chairs the Foundation for Amazing Potentials, a Hong Kong registered charity dedicated to sustainable equality in education and help people at the middle and bottom of the socioeconomic pyramid -- where hope, aspiration and talent often languish -- realize their full potential. The Foundation has supported organizations such as China Youth Development Foundation, China Youth Development Foundation awarded Steven for the “Hope Project’ 25th Anniversary’s Outstanding Contributions in the Great Hall of People in Beijing in November, 2014.

With BS and MS degrees in Electrical Engineering and an MBA in Finance all from NYU, Steven has worked in the private sector for more than 25 years since he began his career, first as a research scientist at IBM's Research Laboratories in upstate New York. After business school, Steven worked for McKinsey & Co in Hong Kong as a management consultant, advising multinational corporations. After that, as a Managing Director of Cisco Systems, Steven was responsible for its Asia Pacific telecommunications businesses. Subsequently, Steven joined Microsoft as the General Manager of the company’s ‘Unlimited Potential Group’ for Greater China.
