The HK Phil strives to nurture the next generation of music lovers. By easing financial constraints, we ensure that students can experience world-class performances, cultivating a passion for the arts that will last a lifetime. Every HK$1,000 donation to the Student Ticket Fund provides eight local full-time students with half-price tickets to world-class performances. The scheme subsidises tickets for over 12,000 full-time students each year.

When I went to my first concert at four and saw the conductor on stage, I told my mother I would like to become the person holding the ‘chopstick’. I did not know that was a baton at that time. Later, I received a scholarship to study at the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts. During those years, I lived between the school and the dormitory almost every day. When I had free time, I earned money to buy student tickets so that I could enjoy performances by the Hong Kong Philharmonic and other world-renowned orchestras visiting Hong Kong. Live concerts by eminent orchestras enriched my experience outside the classroom and helped me a lot in my studies.

Thanks to your meaningful support to the Student Ticket Fund, the HK Phil is able to provide more encouragement and learning opportunities for young people, nurture generations of musicians in Hong Kong, and help the next generations to flourish.

I have always believed that if we are to preserve a culture, we must continue to create it, and the baton of creation always falls on students, our next generation. Therefore, I continually support the Student Ticket Fund, so they can absorb the best of classical culture.

I attended HK Phil concerts with half-price tickets when I was a student, and the concerts made me understand that teamwork is how all the different instruments and the artists’ hard work are put together to create an amazing masterpiece. I think that understanding this will benefit students’ personal development.
