The Hong Kong Philharmonic Chorus was established in 1980. Over the years, it has collaborated with the HK Phil to perform a range of different works. In 2013, the Chorus undertook a new recruitment drive, and over 450 singers were attracted to attend the auditions. The first performance by the newly reformed Chorus was Handel’s Messiah. Since then, the Chorus has performed with the HK Phil in major works by composers such as, Tan Dun, Britten, Mendelssohn, Beethoven, Haydn and Mahler under renowned conductors including Lorin Maazel, Nicholas McGegan, Brett Weymark and Jaap van Zweden, amongst others.
2020/21 Season – General Membership and Fellowship Audition
The Hong Kong Philharmonic Chorus is now recruiting new members for the 2020/21 season and is now also recruiting for our newly established Chorus Fellowship Programme!
The Chorus will be performing with the HK Phil in various projects in the coming season 2020/21 including Beethoven 9 with Music Director of HK Phil, Jaap van Zweden, Christmas Fantasia conducted by our chorusmaster Apollo Wong and Brahms Requiem conducted by Prof. Ralf Otto. Fellows will have extra opportunities to join in special projects like Fidelio by Beethoven with our Music Director and masterclass with international artists.
