HK Phil × Tai Kwun: Chamber Music Series:
Celebrating Philip Glass & John Adams
Venue Information
JC Cube, Tai Kwun
Programme
Experience a striking spectrum of contemporary music where rhythm, electricity, and memory collide. The programme journeys through the propulsive minimalism of Glass, the playful elegance of Adams, and the sultry, jazz-infused “almost” tango of Thomas Oboe Lee. Darkness and electricity then take over, as the electric guitar drives the brooding, reflective depths of Bryars and the soaring intensity of Riley. Reich’s Different Trains injects a sudden, urgent sense of memory in action, before the evening yields to the breathless simplicity and clarity of Pärt.
The concert runs approximately 1 hour 20 minutes without an intermission.
