This year’s New Year concert opens with Wein, Weib und Gesang by J Strauss II, a light-hearted waltz which embodies the effervescent spirit of a festive celebration. The energy grows higher with the vibrant rhythms and passionate melodies of Falla’s Siete cancionespopulares españolas and Bizet’s Carmen. Haydn’s Farewell Symphony offers a poignant nod to the departing year with its surprising and witty finale. Ravel’s Boléro begins with a simple theme, masterfully layering orchestral textures into a hypnotic, magnificent crescendo, in anticipation of an exciting new year.

The concert runs approximately 1 hour 55 minutes with an intermission.
