Amsterdam Concert I
Programme
The HK Phil makes its highly anticipated debut at the prestigious Concertgebouw in Amsterdam under the baton of Jaap van Zweden. The programme opens with a spotlight on rising Hong Kong composer Daniel Lo. In his work Asterismal Dance, distinctive musical materials traverse the different sections of the orchestra in a non-linear fashion, like scattered stars across the sky. The same concert showcases the orchestra’s emotional depth and sonic richness in Rachmaninov’s lush Symphony no. 2, alongside Dutch piano duo Lucas and Arthur Jussen performing In Unison, a dynamic concerto for two pianos by their fellow countryman Joey Roukens.
