Aix-en-Provence Concert

Experience a captivating blend of lyricism and drama with Jaap van Zweden. In the HK Phil commissioned work Asterismal Dance by Daniel Lo, distinctive musical materials traverse the different instrumental sections of the orchestra non-linearly, like the scattered stars in the sky. The delicate passages and elegant melodies in Beethoven’s Piano Concerto no. 4 showcase the brilliant artistry of Alexandre Kantorow, who has been hailed as the “young tsar of the keyboard”. Mahler’s monumental Symphony no. 1 concludes the concert with its rich and colourful sonic palette that stands the test of time.
