Programme
The Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra visited Shanghai in October 2004 and May 2007, both to high acclaims. Music critics in the Mainland praised the Orchestra as “one of Asia’s top orchestras”. This October, the Orchestra is again invited to perform in China, in the 10th Beijing Music Festival. Artistic Director and Chief Conductor Edo de Waart, hailed as a leading Wagner interpreter, will lead the Orchestra to perform in an all-Wagner concert.
The Beijing concert will be held on 4th October in the Forbidden City Concert Hall. World renowned Wagnerian soprano Elizabeth Connell will join the Beijing tour to sing a number of Wagner’s famous arias. The Hong Kong Philharmonic’s Beijing tour is made possible with the financial assistance of The Hong Kong Jockey Club.
