Symphony no. 9, From the New World
Embark on a musical journey through diverse cultures, led by Long Yu. The programme features lively selections from the orchestra suite, Chinese Sights and Sounds, including “Flowing Stream”, “Going to West Gate” and “Dialogue on Flowers”. Using traditional folk melodies, the suite depicts a vivid picture of Chinese cultural traditions. The Butterfly Lovers Violin Concerto is a cherished work that blends elements of Chinese folk music with Western classical music. The concert concludes with Dvořák Symphony no. 9, where the composer weaves together folk melodies from his Czech homeland with the exuberant sounds of America.
