Season Finale: Tarmo Peltokoski Conducts A Sea Symphony
Programme
The companion piece to Castor (conducted by Tarmo in December 2025), Salonen’s introspective Pollux draws inspiration from the mythological twin of the Gemini constellation. Vaughan Williams’ expansive A Sea Symphony, which sets the poetry of Walt Whitman, charts a spiritual voyage across the ocean, with its themes of exploration and humanity. Featuring soprano Chen Reiss, bass-baritone André Schuen, the HK Phil Chorus, and the London Philharmonic Choir, the HK Phil sets sail on a musical odyssey. A fitting grand finale for Tarmo Peltokoski’s season as Music Director Designate, setting the stage for a much-anticipated tenure as Music Director commencing in the 2026/27 season.
The concert runs approximately 1 hour 45 minutes with an intermission.
