Programme
From Chinese Gardens to Russian Masterpieces
Celebrate National Day with Zitong Wang, Third Prize Winner of the International Chopin Piano Competition, as she takes on Prokofiev’s whimsical yet barnstorming Piano Concerto no. 3. Described by Chopin Courier as “one of the most captivating personalities”, Wang ignites the stage with dazzling virtuosity and electrifying energy under the baton of Yuan Ding, Principal Resident Conductor of China National Opera House. The programme opens with Chinese composer Yao Chen’s Garden: Unearthing the Way Home, a poetic soundscape inspired by the art of garden-making, offering a journey of spiritual renewal. Rachmaninov’s brooding and dramatic First Symphony crowns the evening with sweeping intensity and symphonic grandeur.
The concert runs approximately 2 hours with an intermission.
