200 years after his birth on 1st March 1810, Chopin remains the towering figure of the piano repertoire, his music posing a timeless and undiminished challenge to pianists inspired by the quest for the elusive balance between virtuosity and poetry. Yundi Li’s international prominence rose out of his triumph at the 14th International Frederick Chopin Competition and in 2010 he pays tribute to the composer whose music launched his career, in a recital of Chopin’s solo piano music.
