Wu Yanyu
Wu Yanyu graduated from Shenyang Conservatory of Music’s Vocal
Music Department in 1997. In 2004, Wu Yanyu was accepted as
a postgraduate student in the Opera Department in the Central
Conservatory of Music. She is tutored by Professor Guo Shuzhen,
a well-known soprano and vocal music educator, and instructed in
aesthetics by Professor Wu Long, while being taught by Professor
Marina Pinyazhin at the same time. She was engaged as Assistant
Professor of the Opera Department in Shenyang Conservatory of
Music from 2002.
Wu Yanyu won First Prize in the 29th Bellini Vocal Music International Competition in Italy in December 1998. In October 2000, she contended in I I Tonmaze Al caide Inter nat ional Vocal Mus i c Competition in Portugal, and again won First Prize. She won First Prize and Best Performance of Chinese Art Songs in the Third China International Vocal Music Competition in October 2005.
Recent performances in concert and opera include: singing Queen of the Night , The Magic Flute, in Mozar t ’s 250th celebrat ions (June 2006); première of Chen Qigang’s Iris Dévoilée in Germany with great success(February 2006); singing Violetta, La Traviata in Central Conservatory of Music’s 55th Anniversary celebrations (2005); attending the 2005 Bel Canto International Master Class in Beijing with Maestro Carlo Bergonzi in August 2005 on a full scholarship; and singing Vitellia, La clemenza di Tito and Lucia, Lucia di Lammermoor in 2004.
