Guy Braunstein

“I always remain who I am. Only the music decides my meaning,” says Guy Braunstein – a violinist, conductor and composer distinguished by his unique blend of virtuosity, restraint and creativity. A celebrated soloist and chamber musician, Braunstein is a guest at leading music centres and festivals worldwide. He has performed with orchestras including the Tonhalle Orchestra Zurich, Boston Symphony Orchestra, Philharmonia Orchestra London and Berlin Philharmonic, and collaborated with artists such as Zubin Mehta, Daniel Barenboim, Simon Rattle, Martha Argerich, Lang Lang and Andris Nelsons.

Braunstein also appears internationally as a conductor and has served as Conductor and Artist in Residence with the Hamburg Symphony Orchestra and Trondheim Symfoniorkester. Arranging and composing are among his greatest passions. In the romantic tradition of Paganini and Liszt, he transcribes masterpieces for different instruments and ensembles, including music from Tchaikovsky’s Eugene Onegin and Swan Lake, Dvořák’s Rusalka, Schönberg’s Verklärte Nacht and songs by The Beatles.

Born in Tel Aviv, Braunstein studied with Chaim Taub, Glenn Dicterow, Pinchas Zuckerman and Isaac Stern. In 2000, he became the youngest concertmaster in the history of the Berlin Philharmonic, remaining with the orchestra for over a decade. He was also Artistic Director of the Rolandseck Festival and Festival clasclas in Galicia.
