Part 3: Audition Video

Audition Video Requirements:

Upload two videos of yourself conducting an orchestra onto YouTube, and set them either to “Public” or “Unlisted” (but not “Private”)

Video 1: Live performance or run-through of a piece longer than 5 minutes
Video 2: A 15-minute extract of the rehearsal of the same piece

The orchestra should be: a symphony orchestra, a string orchestra, or a wind band
These forms of ensemble are not eligible: choir (vocal), handbell choir

Please make sure your video’s privacy setting is set to either “Public” or “Unlisted”. “Private” videos will not be considered without further notice.

Filling out this form is voluntary; however, insufficient information may prevent the HK Phil from processing your application.
Please note that all applicants’ YouTube links may be shared on the HK Phil’s website.
The HK Phil has commissioned the Centre on Behavioral Health at The University of Hong Kong to conduct an evaluative study for the programme. After submitting this application form, you will receive an automatically generated email, with a link to complete the consent form for participating in the evaluative study for the Conducting Masterclass. In the study, respondents will have to complete two sets of questionnaires and attend one interview (which lasts approximately 60 minutes). Your eligibility for application to the Conducting Masterclass will only be confirmed once you have completed the consent form, regardless of whether you agree to participate in the evaluative study or not
The HK Phil reserves the right to amend the application criteria as necessary and retains full authority for final arbitration in case of disputes.
