Yundi Li in Recital

Having captured worldwide attention by taking out First Prize at the 2000 International Chopin Competition, Yundi Li has kept the great Polish composer’s music at the heart of his own repertoire ever since. Mussorgsky’s ambitious idea to take the listener through a gallery of powerful images presents pianists with the dual challenge of mastering extreme technical demands while simultaneously conjuring the multi-coloured sequence of paintings, drawings and stage designs which fired his imagination as he strode through an exhibition of his friend Viktor Hartmann’s work.
