The Poise of Mozart, the Power of Bruckner

Bruckner’s Romantic Symphony unfolds as a vivid tapestry of medieval imagery. Known for his intelligence, confidence and uncompromising respect for the score, Peltokoski brings a fresh yet deeply grounded approach to Bruckner’s expansive vision, allowing the music’s long-breathed architecture to speak with natural authority. With the HK Phil, the newly appointed Music Director balances power and clarity, from the dawn’s “reveille” and the funeral march of “unrequited love” to the great hunt, culminating in a radiant, festive finale. The programme opens with Mozart’s Piano Concerto no. 24 in C minor, performed by Martin Helmchen, a pianist praised by BBC Music Magazine for his “wonderfully limpid piano tone”, bringing elegance and depth to one of Mozart’s most searching concertos.
