The Nutcracker: Act II
No piece of music introduces the different instrumental characters of the orchestra better than Prokofiev's musical fable Peter and the Wolf. Its story is told in both words and music, in two new translations, one in Cantonese and one in English created specially for these concerts. Tchaikovsky captures the magic of Christmas in a fantasy world of toys and children in his ballet The Nutcracker, whose second act is a Christmas stocking filled with cute and exotic trinkets.
