Young Spanish pianist Javier Perianes impressed Hong Kong
audiences in his 2007 recital début and returns in the rarely heard
piano concerto by Manuel de Falla – his lush symphonic impressions
of the grand parks of his homeland. The vibrant colours and strident
rhythms of Spain ignited the imagination of French composers in
the 19th and 20th Centuries, culminating in Ravel’s hypnotic dance
which repeats its twisting, exotic theme over and over, dressed in a
dazzling parade of instrumental costumes.
