Grammy Award-winning American violinist Joshua Bell returns to the Philharmonic with the quintessential Romantic concerto in which Tchaikovsky fuses spirited virtuosity with melting tenderness. A native of St Petersburg, Andrey Boreyko is one of the most exciting and dynamic conductors to emerge from Eastern Europe in recent years and brings his special affinity for Russian music to the tenderness and the passion of Prokofiev's greatest symphony.
SWIRE CLASSIC INSIGHTS - In 2006/07 the Hong Kong Philharmonic is introducing a series of free pre-concert talks from 7:15pm to 7:45pm prior to every concert in the Swire Maestro Series. Classic Insights will take place in the level 4 foyer of the Hong Kong Cultural Centre. Talks on Friday evenings will be conducted in English and those on Saturday evenings will be in Cantonese.
