Jockey Club Masters Series: Christoph Eschenbach | Dvořák Stabat Mater
JOCKEY CLUB TUTTI PROGRAMME
Programme
Fazıl Say's Second Violin Concerto, inspired by his contemplative walks during the pandemic lockdown, seamlessly blends virtuosity with folk elements. Premiered in 2022 by Christoph Eschenbach and violinist Friedemann Eichhorn, this dynamic work captivates with its energy and depth. In commemoration of the 120th anniversary of Dvořák's passing, we present his monumental Stabat Mater. Born from personal tragedy, this poignant piece vividly portrays the Virgin Mary's sorrow at the cross, offering a profound meditation on suffering and redemption. A stellar cast of international vocalists, along with the Prague Philharmonic Choir, will perform this moving choral masterpiece. Join us on a meditative journey as we bravely confront suffering and sorrow, guided by the Czech master's music to find peace and light.
The concert runs approximately 2 hours and 15 minutes with an intermission.
