After his radical ballet scores such as Petrushka and The Rite of
Spring, Stravinsky took an unexpected path which led him back to
the clarity and austerity of the 18th Century and, in Pulcinella, he
pays tribute to the baroque composer Pergolesi. At 22 years of age,
Shanghai-born horn player Lin Jiang is part of a new generation of
Chinese instrumentalists branching away from the piano and the
violin and impressing the world.
