Young Russian pianist Kirill Gerstein stunned Hong Kong audiences last season, stepping in at incredibly short notice for an ailing Boris Berezovsky. By popular demand he returns to perform two concertos in one evening ?the Frenchified jazz of Ravel and the gutsy authenticity of Gershwin. Debussy's imaginative depiction of the sea is perhaps the greatest French symphony of all, using the full palette of orchestral possibilities with the artistry of a painter. Gershwin's An American in Paris is a musical postcard written following his inspiring travels in Europe in 1928 which included a meeting with Ravel.
