(Hosts: Kathy Lam / Jonathan Douglas)

Chan Ho-choi was passionate about music. He was a secondary school music teacher before starting his full time career in promoting classical music. In 1960, he was invited by RTHK to host Enchanting Music, one of the most popular programmes of Radio 4 which reaches its 50th anniversary this year. Besides founded the magazines Musical Life and Audiotechnique, he was also one of the founders of the Hong Kong Children’s Choir which he had been the Chairman of the Board of Directors for a substantial period in the past 40 years and was appointed as the first Honorary President after his retirement. Chan’s community works included Music Consultant of the former Urban Council, Regional Council and LCSD; Adjudication Panel and Assessment Panel member of “Arts Development Awards” presented by the HKADC in 2002; Chairman of the Radio Association of Hong Kong (35-36th, 2003-2007); Assessment Committee member for the Hong Kong Jockey Club Music and Dance Fund etc. The awards Chan received included “Arts Promotion of the Year Award (Individual)” from the Hong Kong Artist’s Guild Association in 1992; “Honorary Fellow” of the Hong Kong Academy of Performing Arts in 2007; the “Medal of Honour” and the “Bronze Bauhinia Star” by the HKSAR in 2000 and 2009 respectively.

These concerts are a tribute to Chan’s dedication for classical music and education as well as a celebration of his life.
