Kalevi Aho*Concerto for two violoncelli and orchestra

*Due to a change of programme, Koehne’s The Sleep of Reason has been replaced by Kalevi Aho’s Concerto for two violoncelli and orchestra.

Twin cellists Pei-Jee and Pei-Sîan Ng have each won great acclaim in solo concerto performances with major orchestras. Their dazzling talents combine in a new concerto written specially for them by Australian composer Graeme Koehne. Each member of this brilliant musical double act takes a solo part in his own right with Tchaikovsky's Pezzo Capriccioso and Rococo Variations. The world of the cello is introduced by five solo cellos of the Hong Kong Philharmonic in the opening pages of Rossini's William Tell.
