The soul of Russia is romantic melody and passionate story-telling. David Atherton brings three great Russian works to our stage – the excitement of the Polovtsian Dances, Shostakovich’s brooding cello concerto, and the beguiling tales of the Arabian Nights in music – Scheherazade.
Our cello soloist Jing Zhao has withdrawn from this concert for health reason. The two performances will be replaced by Swedish cellist Jakob Koranyi. The advertised repertoire remains unchanged.
