Jean-Christophe Spinosi
A musician at the forefront of Modern and Baroque styles, a profoundly humanist conductor, Jean-Christophe Spinosi maintains an active and international conducting career. As founder and music director of Ensemble Matheus, he performs regularly at the Théâtre des Champs-Elysées, Theater an der Wien, Salzburg Festival, Liceu in Barcelona, and the Staatsoper in Berlin. He has created numerous unique and anomalistic projects which fuse Baroque repertoire with other musical styles and other contemporary art forms including rap, break dancing, and graffiti art.
The symphonic and opera worlds rapidly opened their doors to him, recognizing his audacious interpretations. He is a regular guest of the greatest international orchestras such Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra, Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra, Orchestre de Paris, Berlin Radio Orchestra, Vienna Symphony Orchestra, Konzerthausorchester Berlin, Deutsche Symphony Orchestra Berlin, Vienna Radio Orchestra, Spanish National Orchestra, Monte Carlo Philharmonic, Hr-Sinfonieorchester Frankfurt, City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, Scottish Chamber Orchestra, Moscow National Chamber Orchestra, Royal Stockholm Philharmonic, New Japan Philharmonic of Tokyo, Osaka Philharmonic.
Jean Christophe Spinosi’s artistic collaborators include soloists such as Cecilia Bartoli, Philippe Jaroussky, Janine Jansen, Maxim Vengerov, Maria João Pires, Marie-Nicole Lemieux, Natalie Dessay, Jakub Józef Orliński, Marina Viotti, and Daniel Lozakovich.
He has also conducted regularly at the Philharmonie Berlin, Carnegie Hall, Palais Garnier, Suntory Hall, Weinerstaz Oper, and at Royal Albert Hall in London.
Jean-Christophe Spinosi has an extensive discography with recordings released by Naïve, Deutsche Grammophon, and Decca. His recordings have received immense success and are lauded by numerous international organizations.
