In 2014, James transitioned from music performance to occupational therapy, completing his doctoral degree at Boston University in 2025. He currently serves as a Senior Occupational Therapist in the Forensic Psychiatry Unit at Siu Lam Psychiatric Centre, Hong Kong Correctional Services Department, while also lecturing at universities.

In 2018, James founded Mega Inspire Limited, leading a multidisciplinary team operating two rehabilitation centers under Mega Rehab. The company actively employs individuals in recovery to build an inclusive community and received Social Enterprise accreditation in 2024.

James has developed innovative activity-based interventions including Laughter Fitness and Drum Fitness. Through continuous innovation and passion, he remains dedicated to advancing rehabilitation and giving back to the community.
