Heidi Elisabeth Meier
Born in Germany, lyric coloratura soprano Heidi Elisabeth Meier has impressed audiences and critics with her versatility and voluptuous voice. “Heidi Elisabeth Meier rose seemingly without any difficulties to the highest peaks of her role. Heidi debuted as Sandrina in La Finta Giardiniera in Nuremberg State Theatre Ensemble in the 2005/06 season. On the strength of her performance, she became a member of this ensemble from the 2006/07 season. Since then she has appeared as Sophie (Der Rosenkavalier), Susanna (Figaro), Adina (L‘elisir d‘amore), Gilda (Rigoletto) and Woglinde in Wagner’s Das Rheingold. She made her debut as Queen of the Night (The Magic Flute) at the Brandenburg Theatre in 2006, a role that has led to her debut at the Frankfurt Opera in January 2007.
From 2003 to 2006, Heidi was one of the soloists of the Theater Freiburg and became famous for performing the repertoire roles of Despina in Così fan tutte, Susanna (Figaro) and Musetta (La Bohème). She received international attention for her coloratura performances as Adina, Olympia (The Tales of Hoffman) and Lucia (Lucia di Lammermoor).
Heidi studied concert and opera singing from 1996 to 2001 at the College for Music and Theatre in Munich. Later she became a masterclass student of the Theatre Academy, learning from Edith Wiens and became a contract artist at Gärtnerplatztheater of Munich in the season 2002/03. She has sung the title role in Janacek’s The Cunning Little Vixen (as a member of the opera school), later as Esilena in Handel's Rodrigo at Munich's Prinzregententheater and in the debut performance as the viper in Pinocchio by Wilfried Hiller.
In recent years, Heidi has led a successful concert career in Lieder and oratorio, and has given frequent crossover performances with new music.
