George Lacey
George Lacey is the head of Sotheby’s luxury business in Asia, and one of the company’s principal auctioneers. Throughout a varied career in London, Singapore, and Hong Kong, he has presided over numerous auction records across categories as diverse as jewellery, watches, modern art, wine, and dinosaurs.
Prior to the world of Sotheby’s, George’s initial career was, in fact, as a professional musician. He studied at Cambridge under William Whitehead and Christopher Whitton, before taking up the organ scholarship at York Minster. Having performed professionally throughout the world as a tenor and organist prior to his career in the auction world, George brings his flair for performance to the Sotheby’s rostrum, and outside of Sotheby’s can frequently be found raising funds for important charitable causes at some of Asia’s highest profile galas.
