Dr Paulina Wong Wai-ying

Dr Paulina Wong Wai-ying

Dr Paulina Wong Wai-ying is a former Assistant Professor at The Education University of Hong Kong (EdUHK), where she served as Head of the Musical Arts Division in the Department of Cultural and Creative Arts, Associate Director of School Partnership and Field Experience, and Artistic Director of the EdUHK Chorus.

 

Dr Wong has held numerous leadership and advisory positions in music education and the arts. She previously served as a music tutor at The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts (HKAPA), a member of the Music Panel in Schools, a committee member of the Education Bureau's Curriculum Development Council Committee on Arts Education, a Commissioner of the International Society for Music Education Commission for Music in Schools and Teacher Education, and President of the Hong Kong Association for Music Educators.

 

Currently, she serves as Professional Consultant to the Christian Faith and Development Centre of EdUHK, Education Advisor to the Music Children Foundation, Examiner for the Hong Kong Arts Development Council, and Convener of the “Sing for Peace” Project of the UNESCO Hong Kong Association Global Peace Centre.

 

As Artistic Director and Conductor of the Poetic Music Integrates Chinese Culture and Heritage Project, Dr Wong has led the production of two distinguished albums: New Choral Settings of Tang Poems and Huang Tzu's Song Collection: Searching for Plum Blossoms in the Snow. She has collaborated with organisations and institutions including the 
City of Westminster Libraries & Archives (UK), RTHK Radio 4, the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra, and The Education University of Hong Kong.

 

Her recent work has focused on interdisciplinary projects and professional development programmes, including music, health and well-being, mindful music appreciation, and mindful music performance and practices, through seminars, workshops, and community engagement initiatives.

 

Dr Wong is currently Director and Resident Conductor of the Hong Kong Chinese Oratorio Society and Artistic Director of The Hong Kong Educators’ Singers.

 

She graduated from The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts (HKAPA), majoring in Vocal Performance and Choral Conducting, and subsequently obtained the degrees of Master of Music (MMus) and Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Music from the University of Sheffield, United Kingdom.
