Prof Alex Fan, MH, MStJ, JP

Prof Alex FAN, MH, JP, is a practising barrister in Hong Kong, Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area lawyer, independent arbitrator, as well as a Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area mediator. He is also an Adjunct Professor of Hong Kong Baptist University. He serves as President of Hainan International Arbitration Court, Standing Committee Member of the 8th Session of the CPPCC Hainan Provincial Committee and Member of Expert Committee on the Building of International Commercial Arbitration Centres, Ministry of Justice, PRC. Alex is Member (Legal Subsector) of the 6th Session of the Election Committee of the HKSAR and holds numerous public offices with the Hong Kong Government, including Chairperson of Traffic Accident Victims Assistance Advisory Committee, Deputy Chairman of Appeal Boards Panel (Education), Council Member and Music Group Vice Chairman of Hong Kong Arts Development Council, Member of Travel Industry Authority, Member of Social Worker Registration Board, Member of Committee on the Promotion of Civic Education, Member of Expert Advisory Group on Legal and Dispute Resolution Services, Member of Working Group on Coordination and Liaison of Steering Committee on Rule of Law Education, as well as Vice Chairman of Tai Po District Fight Crime Committee. Among others, he also previously served as Member of Youth Development Commission, Action Committee Against Narcotics, Long-term Prison Sentences Review Board and Hong Kong Housing Authority Subsidised Housing Committee.
Alex serves as Honorary Legal Counsel / Advisor to various art groups such as Hong Kong Arts Administrators Association, Hong Kong Dance Alliance, Hong Kong Dance Federation, Actors’ Family and Unlocking Dancing Plaza, as well as Founding Director of the Hong Kong Chapter of the American Guild of Organists and Executive Committee Member of Hong Kong Hymnos Festival. Further, Alex is an amateur musician and a holder of Master of Arts in Music (CUHK), DipABRSM (Piano Music Performance), DipABRSM (Organ Music Performance) and AMusTCL.
