Pei-heng Chang was born in Pinatung city, Taiwan, and has played the double bass since the age of nine. She received her bachelor of music degree from National Taiwan Normal University in 2010, and went to the University of Cincinnati for the artist diploma and master degree in 2011 with Dr Albert Laszlo. She was a fellow of the HK Phil during the 2010/11 season and studied with Assistant Principal Double Bass, Jiang Xinlai, Principal Viola Andrew Ling and ex-Concertmaster John Harding.
Pei-heng was Principal Double Bass while she studied at the University of Cincinnati. In 2009 she joined the Taiwan National Symphony Orchestra, and in the same year gave her first solo recital in Taipei and won the first prize of Taiwan students’ competition.
Pei-heng also participated in several music festivals and performances. She went to the music festival in France in 2009 where she studied with Thierry Barbé, the principal bass of Paris National Opera. She also participated in the Asian Youth Orchestra in 2005.
