[29 March 2011 – Hong Kong] Austrian soprano Mara Mastalir is joined by the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra, under the baton of famed Dutch conductor Jan Willem de Vriend in a pair of “Sing Mozart Sing” performances that showcase some fine vocal works by her compatriot. Mozart +: “Sing Mozart Sing” will be held on 8 & 9 April 2011 (Fri & Sat), 8pm at the Hong Kong City Hall Concert Hall.

Mozart’s special relationship with the soprano voice is highlighted here with a selection of magnificent arias, from two of his most entertaining operas, Cosi fan tutte and The Marriage of Figaro, as well as in Exsultate Jubilate, sung by Mastalir who can be seen gracing the stages of many of the world’s great concert halls. Maestro de Vriend, a specialist in music of the time, frames Mozart’s glorious vocal music with instrumental music written immediately before and after Mozart’s time. Rameau’s opera, based on Greek mythology, is full of enchanting dances, while Beethoven’s Second Symphony mixes humor and wit with some great tunes.
