Pianist Ingrid Fliter, Silver Medalist of the 2000 International Chopin Piano Competition, takes us to the French capital with a piano concerto which in its elegance and poise is almost a musical portrait of Paris itself. Claude Debussy, one of the city’s most famous inhabitants, conjured up vivid musical images of the sea, while the richly colourful orchestral score by Japanese composer Toshio Hosokawa continues the maritime theme. Navigating us through this atmospheric musical journey is leading conductor Jun Märkl, whose complete Debussy series has garnered critical acclaims.
