Lorina Gore

Australian soprano Lorina Gore has won numerous awards including the Dame Joan Sutherland Scholarship (2012), the Opera Awards (2010), Robert & Betty Saltzer Prize (2004), Covent Garden National Opera Studio Scholarship (2003), second prize in the Herald-Sun Aria (2002 and 2004), the Lady Galleghan Scholarship for Voice, the Frank and Viola Tait Scholarship, the Phoebe Patrick Award, and first place in the Australian National Aria Competition.

She joined Opera Australia in 2008 as a principal artist and has since performed many roles including Queen of Night (The Magic Flute), Fiakermilli (Arabella), Amina (La sonnambula), Lisa (La sonnambula), Leila (The Pearlfishers), Titania (A Midsummer Night’s Dream), Honey B (Bliss) and Marzelline (Fidelio). She has appeared as soprano soloist with the Sydney Philharmonia, Royal Melbourne Philharmonic, Melbourne Bach Choir and the Sydney, Darwin, Canberra, Queensland and Tasmanian Symphony Orchestras.

2018 highlights include Ophelia in the Australian premiere of Brett Dean’s Hamlet (Adelaide Festival), appearing in Bernstein concerts with the Sydney and Adelaide Symphony. She sings the role of Michal in Saul with Sydney Philharmonia; releases another recording with ABC Classics entitled A Toast to Melba and performs in Opera Australia’s “Opera in the Domain” and their “Great Opera Hits” concert series throughout the year.
