Xi Wang

Xi Wang is emerging as an important new young Chinese soprano. In 2011 she joined the prestigious Merola programme at San Francisco Opera as a young artist and appeared as a guest soloist at New York City Opera’s Annual Composer showcase concert “VOX”. She performed at Glimmerglass Opera in 2010, and in the 2010-11 season sung the role of Susanna in Le Nozze di Figaro and Liù in Turandot at the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music. In 2012 she performed Zerlina in Don Giovanni with Des Moines Metro Opera.

Wang holds the degree of Master of Music from San Francisco Conservatory of Music where she was the winner of the Conservatory concerto competition singing Richard Strauss’s Brentano Lieder with the SFCM Philharmonic Orchestra. She also received her doctoral degree in Musical Arts from University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music in 2014. Her awards include first place winner of the Opera Columbus Competition, the East Bay Young Artist Vocal Competition, Fe Bland Scholarship Competition, Henry & Maria Young Artist Scholarship Competition and Gerda Lissner International Competition. As a National semi-finalist at the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions in 2009 she was noted as “a musician with impressive artistry and musicality”. She is currently full-time voice faculty at Macao Polytechnic Institute.
