Camilla Tilling

Swedish soprano Camilla Tilling’s international career was launched at New York’s City Opera, and by the end of the subsequent two seasons, she had made débuts at Covent Garden, the Aix-en-Provence, Glyndebourne Festival, La Monnaie Brussels and at the Metropolitan Opera New York.

Over the past decade, Camilla Tilling’s operatic career has flourished with major engagements on both sides of the Atlantic: At the Convent Garden (Die Zauberflöte, Der Rosenkavalier and Hänsel und Gretel, among others) Teatro alla Scala (in Idomeneo, released on DVD); the Metropolitan Opera (Don Giovanni and Falstaff); as well as appearances at the Lyric Opera of Chicago; the Bayerische Staatsoper; the Opéra National de Paris; San Francisco Opera; De Nederlandse Opera and Teatro Real, Madrid and at the Saito Kinen Festival, Japan.

Among the many distinguished conductors with whom she has collaborated are Antonio Pappano, James Levine, Sir Andrew Davis, Seiji Ozawa, Sir John Eliot Gardiner, Daniel Harding and the late Sir Charles Mackerras. Recent concert highlights include appearances with the Los Angelas Philharmonic, l’Orchestre National de France, San Francisco Symphony, Chicago Symphony and Orchestre de Paris; Handel’s Messiah with the Berliner Philharmoniker.

Camilla Tilling features on several recordings: Cherubini’s Mass in D minor with Muti (EMI); Mahler’s Symphony No.4 with Zander (Telarc); albums with Emanuelle Haïm and Paavo Jarvi (all on Virgin Classics) and with Paul McCreesh (DG Archiv). Camilla Tilling’s first solo recording Rote Rosen, a selection of Lieder by Richard Strauss (BIS) - was released in 2009 to unanimous critical acclaim.

The recent seasons brought Camilla Tilling to Madrid’s Teatro Real, the Théâtre des Champs-Elysées and the Bayerische Staatsoper. In concert, she will appear in Berlin and at New York’s Carnegie Hall with Sir Simon Rattle, in Gothenburg with Gustavo Dudamel, and in Dallas with Jaap van Zweden.
